The final project meeting of the SmartProtect “SMART agriculture for innovative vegetable crop PROTECTion: harnessing advanced methodologies and technologies”, was held on May 2nd and 4th 2023 in Athens in a hybrid format.

The consortium presented a general overview of the final results of the activities carried out during the forty-two months of the project and its farmers Platform containing  175 technologies that are already available on the market. These, technologies can be searched in the platform by different types of technique:

  • Application techniques (such as sprayers, spraying drones, UV system, distribution systems for beneficial)
  • Decision support techniques
  • Diagnostics and detections techniques (such as ELISA, RNA and DNA methods and mobile disorder detection)
  • Monitoring techniques for crops and insects, while application ranges cover bacteria, beneficial, fungi, insects, mites, nematodes and viruses.

In addition, on the platform, it is possible to find factsheets related to vegetables: onions, brassicas, lettuce, tomato, peppers, cucumbers and carrots.  For each vegetable the sheets contain a breakdown of what the technologies do, how they are relevant to that vegetable. The platform will remain active after the end of the project.

During the meeting the results of the smart technologies tests were also presented :

  • E-traps
  • Smart App, manual and automatic
  • Smart traps and mobile apps
