In the framework of the project from 26 June to 6 July 2023, the Centro Alpino di Pieve Tesino (IT) hosted the DS-FOOD international summer school with the theme “Design of sustainable food systems”. Four professors from the LOWINFOOD team gave lectures to 30 students attending the camp.  The students came from 9 countries, they took part in this unique educational experience consisting of an 11-days summer camp with plenty of activities including 2 field visits, one in a typical malga (cheese) production facility in a farm located up the mountain, and another one at the wine cellars. There also were indoor and outdoor lectures.

The lessons have been taken by the coordinator of LOWINFOOD Clara Cicatiello. Christina Strotmann (ISUN), Mattias Eriksson (SLU) and Luca Secondi (UNITO) offered classes in this summer school.

The objective of the summer school was to provide participants with a theoretical overview and a basic toolbox to design and assess sustainability in agri-food systems, in an international environment.
