AREFLH is a partner of SmartProtect project, SMART agriculture for innovative vegetable crop PROTECTion: harnessing advanced methodologies and technologies. The project has selected the Scoutbox to feature on its platform.

 

The Scout box enables horticultural growers to scout harmful insects in greenhouses by just pushing one button. The Scoutbox combines image recognition and sophisticated machine learning algorithms.  

 

The Scout box is a portable semi-automatic that avoids manual counting. The Scout box photographs each insect track and sends pictures to the central crop watch server special software. It counts pests harmful insects (Whiteflies, Thrips, Leaf miners) and beneficals ones (nesidiocoris & Macrolophus). The farm office thus has immediate online access to the data collected by the Scout box pest management.  

The scoutbox has great benefits for greenhouse growers. Automated insect counting is faster, more objective and more accurate than accounting manually.

More traps can be counted per greenhouse at the same time resulting in much more accurate reports. The Scoutbox is easy to use and fits in well with the highly automated and computerized production methods used in the greenhouse industry.
