Within the framework of the regulation CE n°501/2008 of June 5th, 2008, the Commission of the European Union supports the programs of farm produces promotion on the internal market and towards the third countries.
These programs must be rather multinational and multi-produced.
The AREFLH is represented to the European experts group through Mr. Luciano TRENTINI.
Promotion of EU agricultural products outside the EU

The European Commission has approved measures to provide information on, and to promote agricultural products in third countries. Member States submitted 20 programmes to the Commission to be examined. The 10 programmes that have been accepted are from France, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal and Romania. The products covered are PGI and PDO, wine, fruit and vegetables, meat, spirits, olive oil, and organic products. The EU contribution is € 11.1 million (50% of the total budget of the programmes).

Fight obesity earlier in life
According to EP Environment Committee Europe has almost 22 million overweight children, and a further 1.3 million will be overweight or obese by 2010.
Remedies include clearer food labelling, better food in schools and kindergartens, restrictions on advertising unhealthy food to children, and VAT reductions for fruits and vegetables.
