Fruit and vegetables are very susceptible to diseases and pests, as very dependent on external weather conditions.
The climatic disorder causes changes in the pressure of these diseases, against which it is necessary to protect themselves, to produce a production of consistent quality and economically viable.
The European Union Commission and Member States have made an inventory of active substances and uses available to producers, which led to the removal of 60% of the substances and resulting in numerous technical dead ends and unsupplied uses.
Meanwhile, the AREFLH has drafted a guide line for European Integrated Production so it becomes a clear reference, unique and credible to distributors and consumers.
But to carry out this project, the producers must have the essential biological and chemical means. They have high expectations in this area of basic research and applied to firms, to provide them with alternatives involved in this effort of integrated production.
The Phytosanitary Commission is continuously working on the subject, listening to all the needs of both producers and societal expectations.
